Our story
Built from the dugout, not a boardroom
OrangeSlice Sport started the way a lot of good tools do — out of frustration. Mike's a youth baseball parent who ended up running teams: organizing tryouts, building rosters, chasing payments, and texting families at 10pm.
The logistics apps helped with the busywork, but they all stopped at the same place. None of them helped a coach show a family how their kid was actually developing — the one thing parents care about most, and the one thing that makes a program worth its fee.
So we built the layer that was missing. AI progress reports that turn a quick coach interview into something parents actually read. Tryout evaluations that make cuts consistent and defensible. A record that follows each player across seasons. And because a program still has to run, we handle the registration, scheduling, payments, and messaging too — in one place.
Sports run in the family. Mike's a dad of seven — five boys and two girls — and still an athlete: football, soccer, and beach volleyball growing up, and he's still out on the sand playing beach volleyball. His wife, Amanda, was an elite swimmer at Princeton. The kids play rugby, baseball, football, swim, and beach volleyball, and plenty of weekends the whole crew is out wake surfing on Lake Austin. A sports family building for sports families.
We run this on real programs, in a real baseball community.
Experience
Built and run by someone who has actually organized tryouts, rosters, and travel — not a generic team app retrofitted for baseball.
Focused
Youth baseball, specifically. Evaluation skills and report structure are calibrated to the age divisions you coach.
Honest
We tell you what the product does and doesn't do. Development is the point; logistics are table stakes.
